Highlights of 38th Street event
Thirty-eighth Street has connected South Minneapolis communities for more than a century. On Sept. 19 these communities will celebrate the rich past and bright future of 38th Street by holding a celebration all along 38th Street. The action stretches from Lakewood Cemetery to 38th and Bloomington Avenue with clusters of activities at Dupont, Grand, Pleasant, Nicollet, 4th, Chicago, 12th and Bloomington Avenues. Highlights include a History Hounds scavenger hunt: Sniff out history up and down 38th while you enjoy the day’s events. Bring your completed History Hounds card to Nicollet Ace Hardware between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to receive your free prize and a chance to win a grand prize in a drawing to be held at 2 p.m. At 10 a.m. a parade will begin at Nicollet Avenue. Other activities include music, local art, sidewalk sales, food samples from local restaurants and dance performances.
