Burglary alert!
The Third Precinct has issued a Police Advisory for the Howe, Cooper and Hiawatha neighborhoods as a result of five residential burglaries reported on March 11, in the area between 32nd and 41st Streets from 38th to 44th Avenues South. Most of the burglaries occurred between 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m:
40xx-38th Ave. S., 12:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m., entry gained by forcing the rear door. Loss: cameras and jewelry. No suspect information.
40xx-44th Ave. S., 8:15 p.m.- 8:45 p.m., entry gained by breaking a window on the rear door. An unknown male suspect was carrying out a TV when he was interrupted by homeowner. Suspect fled south with another male and got into a car which was parked on 41st Street. Suspect vehicle has 2 tail lights close together and similar to an older model Chevy Impala. One suspect was “noticeably shorter” than the other. Other electronics had been placed in a pillowcase but left behind. Neighbor heard what sounded like two teenage boys talking loudly outside the home just before police arrived.
32xx-39th Ave. S., 7:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m., entry gained by cutting the screen on an unlocked window. Loss: TV, laptop and jewelry. No suspect information.
33xx-40th Ave. S., 5:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m., entry gained by cutting the screen and then forcing open a basement window. Loss: laptop, wireless modem and antenna, several bottles of alcohol. No suspect information.
36xx-43rd Ave. S., 5:00 p.m.-11:50 p.m., entry gained by breaking a window on the rear door. Loss: earrings and coins. No suspect information.
