Richfield Farmers Market

showimage (3)The Richfield Farmers Market runs every Saturday from 7 a.m. to noon through Oct. 25 and Wednesdays from 2 to 7 p.m. until Sept. 10 at Veterans Memorial Park, 64th Street and Portland, under the wooden picnic pavilion.
More than 20 local farmers and producers come to sell at the market, offering bread and baked goods, honey and maple syrup products, pickled vegetables, jams and sauces, cheese, bison meat and all natural beef products, tamales, coffee, fresh MN grown produce and much more!
Every third Saturday there is Read-A-Story for families and children.  Mayor Debbie holds court from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on the fourth Saturday.  There are local community information tables, live music and master gardeners every Saturday.
Besides the market, the park offers plenty of other activities, like a mini golf course, a malt shop, a playground, the Honoring All Veterans Memorial, and walking trails through a wetland.
The market offers ample seating and onsite restrooms for customers’ use. There is free parking available, and Metro Transit Bus Route # 5 stops at the entrance of Veterans Park. No pets are allowed in the market space during market hours.
Feedback on Yelp has been positive.  Jess F. says, “A refreshing trip to the farmers market on an early Saturday morning? Yes, please!
“Fresh, local ingredients always fill me with happiness.  This particular farmers market is a reasonable size.  There are about seven to 10 local growers of produce, one flower seller, zero to one breadsmith, occasionally a honey and jam stand, and maybe one or two produce resellers.
“I’m a fan of this location because it’s very family oriented.  Since it’s set up in a large park, families will head to this market early, maybe get some breakfast at the crepe stand, listen to a musician or get the kid’s face painted (depending on if entertainment is hired by the city), and take a stroll on the path or sit in the grass.  Even if it’s raining, the market area is under a roof, so you can shop and enjoy at ease.  Good times.”
Melissa A. says, “Being new to Richfield I was excited to find a local weekend market that is less than two miles from me with easy parking.  I was pleased with the fresh flower bouquets that were large and just $5. That first bouquet lasted an entire week. I also got some hot sauce that stood up to its promise.
“Overall it is pretty small, but offers a covered roof and a parking lot, so for a few things it is easy in and easy out, but I will be seeking larger markets and looking for additional variety and lower overall prices.”
Jada M. says, “This is a great little farmers market, and you don’t have to go downtown!”  And Will B. says, “The Richfield Farmers Market has been a family favorite for almost eight years. The addition of music every week has also been fun. Thanks for improving an already great experience.”
