Construction update for Minnehaha Avenue

img-1892-2_originalAs they say, “There are only two seasons in Minnesota, winter and construction season.”
From Hennepin County:
The Hennepin County Transportation Department in partnership with the City of Minneapolis is reconstructing Minnehaha Avenue from East 46th Street to Lake Street.
Effective June 15, 2015, the intersection of Minnehaha Avenue and Nawadaha Boulevard will be closed to traffic. The intersection is expected to be closed for three to four weeks.
Effective June 16, 2015, the intersection of Minnehaha Avenue and 43rd Street will be closed to traffic. This intersection is expected to be closed for approximately 10 days.
With the concrete shoulder paving, stress joints must be saw cut into concrete while it is hardening. That window of opportunity is short and dependent on conditions such as temperature and humidity levels. While the contractor will work to complete saw cutting as quickly as possible, there may be days when crews need to saw cut into the evening and night to ensure that the work is done properly and that we deliver a successful finished project.
The contractor will try to minimize nighttime work as much as possible. To stay updated on possible night work, please call the hotline at 612-930-4211 and dial a “1” for a recorded update on any anticipated work.
The intersection of Minnehaha Avenue and 45th Street remains closed for reconstruction. Weather permitting, crews may pour concrete curbs and shoulders and will reopen the intersection after asphalt paving is completed through the intersection. If the asphalt paving through the intersection is postponed, the contractor will reopen the intersection with the intersection of Minnehaha Avenue and 45th Street remaining closed for reconstruction. Weather permitting, crews may pour concrete curbs and shoulders and will reopen the intersection after asphalt paving is completed through the intersection. If the asphalt paving through the intersection is postponed, the contractor will reopen the intersection with a temporary rock surface once the concrete is hard enough to support traffic.
Traffic is tentatively scheduled to switch from the south side of 46th Street to the north side beginning the week of June 15.
