If a Jew can take part in this dispute, I’d like to register a little outrage at the rabbi’s manicheaism which casts the Israeli government as a group of gentle souls praying for 47 years for peace in the face of desperate terrorism, loving the Palestinian children more than the Palestinians do. In the light of the facts of the Israeli occupation this would be laughable if it weren’t so wicked. The record of deaths on both sides also exposes the notion that Israel is merely trying to defend its citizens: It defends its citizens only by honestly engaging in some peace process or other and the historical record shows it has never done this (see Zalman Amit and Daphna Levitt, “Israeli Rejectionism—A Hidden Agenda in the Middle East Peace Process”).
