Minnehaha Avenue reconstruction moves to stage two

img-1892-2_originalStage two construction between 42nd Street and 38th Street is scheduled to begin early the week of July 20.
As part of the preparation for the street reconstruction, some trees along the boulevards will need to be removed in the project area. Those trees are being marked with a ribbon in advance. We anticipate crews will remove trees during the week of July 20. Parking restrictions will be in place for the entire construction work zone between 42nd Street and 38th Street in order to safely remove the trees.
Pavement removal between 42nd Street and 40th Street is scheduled to begin early the week of July 20. Parking restrictions will be in place between 42nd Street and 40th Street for the duration of this construction stage; advance notice signs will be installed by the end of this week. The intersections at 42nd Street and 41st Street will remain open to through traffic during these removal operations.
Final asphalt paving operations and striping between 46th Street and 42nd Street will be completed once work in the 46th Street intersection is finished. In an effort to maintain bicyclist safety throughout the entire corridor, the bicycle detour in stage two will extend from 38th Street to 46th Street until the final asphalt paving and striping operations are completed between 46th Street and 42nd Street.
Business access remains open during construction
Please remember that access to local businesses remains available during the Minnehaha Avenue reconstruction activities.
Minnehaha Avenue/Nawadaha Boulevard intersection closed; alley closure update
Starting today, short-term, intermittent closures of the intersection of Minnehaha Avenue and Nawadaha Boulevard are required when asphalt paving occurs. These closures are anticipated to last between four to six hours each while asphalt paving is occurring. Please follow the signed detour routes during these short-term closures.
Access to the alley from Nawadaha Boulevard will be unavailable at certain times during the asphalt paving operations. Asphalt paving work is anticipated to be done on Saturday or early next week, depending on weather. It is recommended that residents use on-street parking until the asphalt paving operations are complete.
Ongoing activities and potential night work
Construction activities currently scheduled during the next week:
Asphalt paving in various locations between Nawadaha Boulevard to 42nd Street will be completed by early next week.
Miscellaneous concrete paving on the south side of 46th Street will be completed by the end of next week.
Concrete paving could require saw cutting into the evening and nighttime. Please call the hotline at 612-930-4211 and dial “1” for a recorded update on any anticipated night work related to concrete paving, or sign up for email/text updates by visiting www.hennepin.us/minnehaha.
