Living in tents is very difficult in winter.
One of the most painful things: when you wake up from sleep and rainwater fills your tent and soaks you while you can’t do anything. This is our painful reality this winter. We still suffer in our tents silently.
Gazans are now hauling rainwater from inside our tents. Half of them are tweaking these sluggish, unfit shelters.
What a life do we talk about. Everyone screams and calls from inside the tents.
This is the detail of winter here…
Where:
Steadfastness is a habit.
Vigilance is a necessity.
And the tents pulse with the strength of their people every time the sky falls.
When the downpour intensifies and the wind rises, we all prepare as if we are on a continuous watch. Sleep is banished from our eyes, fearing that the water will invade us.
We stay awake despite the exhaustion, monitoring every window and drop.
In Gaza, rain is not just fleeting weather.
The high winds break everything. This winter will be very difficult for all those who live in tents.
This is just the beginning of winter.
I feel lost.
This “ceasefire” is nothing like anything. It’s just a name, not a repair.
This war is not going to stop. Israel is back in bombardment. So far, more than 40 more martyrs. It’s a very hard night.
Oh Allah, keep us.
