And some call this progress – Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor

I was born and raised in Minneapolis, and I’ve seen all different variations of the public transit. Beginning on the 15th of June, the bus system had a major change, at least for me and many others who are also disabled.
The B-line replaced the 21A, aka the Lake Street bus. Their motto is “Less stops more GO.” This may be true, but for thousands and thousands of riders it means the end of availability! You know, when you consider the number of stops that are being sent to Oblivion, it’s a real shame. We all know how much of a battle it can be to be handicapped, and if you have to walk an extra two or three blocks it seems like a journey in purgatory.
I’m sure Metro Transit will say, “Well, we had a survey.” It would have been more interesting if they had surveyed the people at the bus stops that were being closed and ask them if they think they’re going to enjoy walking an extra two to four blocks every day in bad weather so the bus can go faster.
