I recently took my four year old son to see Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile The Musical at Children’s Theatre Company This was his first experience with live musical theater. As a former theater kid, my heart wanted him to fall in love with the stage. We were in luck! He adored the show, and is already begging to see it again. The performance features silly songs, talented puppetry, a joyful cast of creatures, and slapstick antics. It was hilarious.
The Enormous Crocodile’s plan to feast upon children is presented with an exaggerated silliness that lets young kids feel like they are in on the joke, rather than potentially on the menu. The audience gets to participate in the crocodile’s ultimate defeat through yelling, laughter, and throwing nuts. My son is still chanting the final call-and-response lines of the show, and was inspired to write his own play the next day (performed by a cast of stuffed cats).
Want to have a delightful evening with your kids and inspire a love of the arts? Take them to see Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile The Musical!
